Albalact History

Started in 1971 under the name “Alba Milk Industrialization Enterprises”, SC ALBALACT SA became 100% private in 1999 by public auction.

In 2004 ALBALACT SA decides to enter the UHT milk segment with a product for a more sensible consumer target: children and mothers. This segment was poorly exploited and the offer was limited. After an important investment in the Tetra Pak line for UHT Milk Production, the Fulga brand was launched.

The benefits of the product are suggested in the slogan used to promote the product: “Milk Goodness”. The Fulga brand also brought on the market a new way to promote the products: animation – as a fundamental way o communicate the message and build the brand. In just a year from launching the new brand, ALBALACT steps out of the line of small local producers and becomes one of the main five players on the market, rising the sales of UHT milk with over 30% in the country.

In 2005, ALBALACT SA launches on the market a new line of products under the Fulga brand. “Milk Goodies” - is represented by four new products of chocolate and fruit flavored 250 ml packed milk, to which was added, later, on a special telescopic straw.

After a 2 million EURO investment in Tetra Pak processing lines, in 2006 was launched a new line of fresh dairy products under the brand name – Zuzu, a new brand produced at European standards.  Aside from the basic need to consume dairy foods, Zuzu also brings forward, through the message, the packaging, through the brand name, the pure joy and the smile our products offer you.  The packaging used is a Romanian premiere, being processed with the most modern packaging technologies.

In March 2006 the building of a new dairy processing plant was started, with a capacity of 200.000 liters/day, according to the European hygiene regulations.  This 10 million EURO investment is one of the largest in the field.

Characterized through constant innovation, ALBALACT SA diversifies in February 2007, the fresh yoghurt line, adding a new flavor: Apricot and Peaches.

In April 2007 Fulga makes a big step in extending its range of fresh yoghurts. All the yoghurts are produced following traditional ALBALACT recipes and from selected lactic cultures of the best quality. Being created especially for children, well known for their particular taste in foods, Fulga Yoghurts are extremely tasty, have a creamy texture and big slices of fruits.

ALBALACT employs over 500 people, has over 3500 stock holders and is listed on the RASDAQ market. Besides fresh dairy sold under the brand names Fulga and Zuzu, ALBALACT also produces butter, yoghurt and cream under the homonym brand named “De Albalact”.  

In September 2007 a new plant opened at Oiejdea, and it is one of the most modern and largest of its kind in Europe. Based on the latest technology, it is equipped with fully automated installations and rigorous control systems of the functioning parameters, insuring an uneventful and safe production process.
