Albalact produces milk and fresh dairy products in a state-of-the-art factory, one of the most important across the Central and Eastern Europe, located in Oiejdea in county of Alba. The company further develops a diversified range of cheese in Raraul factory in Bucovina, which was acquired back in 2008 and has a long-lasting tradition in cheese and yellow cheese production.

Albalact was taken over in 1999 by Ciurtin Family from Alba-Iulia, Alba county. The company constantly grew and developed renowned Romanian brands, with the visionary contribution of Raul Ciurtin, the young entrepreneur which gave up being a physician for taking the company’s management in his own hands.

For 17 years, Raul Ciurtin led Albalact business as a president and, for a while, as a general manager as well. He developed the company, he created and promoted Romanian brands, he constantly invested and innovated in the Romanian dairy industry.

In 2016, Albalact became part of the Lactalis group,

the largest dairy producer in the world, with a turnover of EUR 17 billion in 2015. Albalact entered Lactalis Group further to the sale successfully closed on 19 September 2016 at the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

Lactalis Group is now present in 83 countries on all continents, owns production facilities in 43 countries in the world and manages a portfolio of renowned international brands, but also local important brands.

Innovation is both Albalact’s sign, and the promise the company made to its consumer almost a decade ago, when it launched Fulga and Zuzu, two of the most popular Romanian brands of today.

From the very first brands it has been boldly and confidently building, Albalact continued to invest in brands, technology, new product and packaging concepts, and large-scale projects, many of them pioneering ones.
